Bongi Ngema-Zuma Foundation

The Bongi Ngema-Zuma (BNZ) Foundation is a personal initiative of the First Lady of the Republic of South Africa, and is an embodiment of her passion to support people living with diabetes.


The BNZ Foundation has supplied Youth With Diabetes with a platform to create awareness about diabetes in children at their diabetes events.

Dr David Segal

Dr David Segal is a world-renowned paediatric endocrinologist based at the Donald Gordon Medical Centre in Johannesburg. He helped found Youth With Diabetes in 2005 and continues to assist at our Johannesburg weekend camps.

Kids Powered by Insulin

Kids Powered By Insulin is a Facebook-based online support group for parents of children living with type 1 diabetes.


We encourage parents and other family members to join this group to “laugh, vent and cry” with families in similar situations. There are regular posts of new research, tips for lunchbox ideas and loads of other helpful information and support.
